Age Is No Barrier: Six Buy-to-Let Remortgages for a Landlord in His Late 70s

Told you're "too old" to remortgage your rental properties? Our client had six of them.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
The story

How we got it done.

01 · The goal

What they wanted

To remortgage his portfolio as his current deals ended and release equity to grow and repair it.

02 · The challenge

Why it was complex

Many buy-to-let lenders cap the age at the end of the term. On top of that, six separate remortgages had to be timed around different early repayment charge end dates.

03 · The solution

How we structured it

We used a lender that judges the property and the rent rather than the borrower's age. We arranged 5-year fixed rates on interest-only and timed each completion to land after the existing early repayment charges ended.

04 · The result

The outcome

The whole portfolio was handled by one adviser, and capital was released to keep growing it.

Buy-to-let mortgages are not regulated by the FCA. Interest-only capital must be repaid at the end of the term.
